Editing & Practicing the Elevator Speech
Once you have created the outline for your speech, you need to go through and edit the speech. Condense and simplify the speech as much as possible. If you have any statements that are going to confuse the client or create too many questions, rephrase them or use different examples. Use vivid imagery in your text and consider hiring a professional writer to create a description that paints a very detailed image of what you’re trying to sell.
Once you have your final draft, take it to your associates, family, and friends. Read the speech out loud and deliver it as you would in the real situation. As you did with your initial sentence, pay close attention to how people react. If they look bored or disinterested, take note and think of ways to make your verbal imagery more interesting.
Finally, make sure that you have a business card to give your prospective client. The business card should be clean, to the point, and provide the information necessary to get in touch with you using more than one method. If you have a website, include that information as well. Once you have created your first elevator speech, future speeches will come more naturally.

- Resolve concerns and alleviate reservations about installing a machine.
- Talk about your company's reputation.
- Accommodate the target audience and discuss consumer behavior.
